Find Events & Tastings Near You

Drinking wine at home and having the occasional bottle at a restaurant is great, but to truly expand your knowledge attending local events is highly encouraged.

What kind of events are we talking about here? Obviously, there are small, store-based tastings where you'll have the chance to taste several new wines for free or for a small fee. Wine classes are also a tremendous opportunity to expand your wine horizons. Hour-long classes will cost a little more than tastings, but you'll have an expert to answer your questions and give you a lot of individual attention.

Other events you can participate in are wine-pairing dinners, where you'll be treated to a multi-course meal where everything you eat is complimented by a specifically chosen wine. And, in larger cities, you'll be able to periodically find large wine events where you'll have the chance to taste an incredible number of wines.

So, the million dollar question... how do you find out what's happening locally? Well, your first best bet are your local wine shops. Many of them will host their own tastings and events, and if they don't conduct anything themselves, they'll most likely be able to point you in the right direction.

Wine magazines such as Wine Spectator will always have information about the bigger events, but unless you live in a large metropolitan city or you're willing to travel, the national publications won't be quite as handy.

However, the best resource for finding events and being alerted of events in your area is the Internet, specifically LocalWineEvents.com. They have a huge database of events from across the country, and, even better, they offer an email signup list that is delivered weekly to let you know what's coming up. Check out their site and we bet that you'll find something interesting and worth attending almost immediately.
