Can't Miss Red: Oregon Pinot Noir

If we were to look up "crowd-pleaser" in a wine dictionary, the top entry would absolutely have to be Pinot Noir from Oregon, specifically the magnificent Willamette Valley, where the winemakers have really perfected wonderfully fruity and delicious reds.

The winemakers of Willamette Valley have settled into producing strictly New World-style Pinot Noir vs. the slightly more robust, Burgundy-style Pinots that California prefers to make. The result are red wines that are remarkably consistent across the Valley, and although each winemaker offers up slightly difference bouquets and essences, the pleasurable character of Oregon Pinot Noir always delivers.

Why don't we consider Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon, both more popular than Pinot Noir, better can't miss reds? Cabernet is often far too tannic and overwhelming with flavors such as mushrooms and earth to please the masses. Merlot offers fruit flavors, but they're more muted and supple than Pinot's, and many drinkers consider the wine a little too boring, especially those who want their wines to scream berry like Oregon Pinot Noir does.

In addition to their easy drinkability, Oregon Pinot Noirs are pure magic with almost any food, pairing with both seafood and steak and everything in between with aplomb. It's this fantastic dual character that truly defines Oregon Pinot; equally good when being enjoyed by itself or with any sort of meal.
